How this is worked out
Pay = (your rate with differential × your regular hours) + (that rate × your overtime multiplier × your overtime hours). Time committed = your paid hours, plus the unpaid break minutes and both legs of the commute, added up across every shift in the period. Real rate = pay divided by time committed.
That's the whole formula, and it's the same one shown in the table above once you run it — nothing is hidden in a black box. It doesn't touch taxes, benefits, or the value of things like insurance or a pension; it's a rough, personal estimate of your own hours, not financial advice.
