A room is a topic. A unit is a place. Rooms run inside places — Recovery Room on 4 North nights is fifteen people who cover each other's breaks; Recovery Room for everyone is a national forum with four posts a week. Every room below opens inside your own unit first, then outward.

Off Duty Whatever you are when the badge comes off. The default room, and the one you write as yourself. Marathon training, sourdough starters, a D&D campaign running since school — building up on your page over time as a running list of what came after each chapter. The pseudonymous rooms are Recovery, Huddle and Consult. Moonlighting Your side project gets a storefront. The one room with a commercial surface behind it — and the seam between talking about the work and selling it. Recovery Room Decompression, the honest version. The emotional center of the product, and the room with the strictest rule about what the system may learn. Huddle Team culture, without the cheese. The one room with a public twin: the Huddle library, which anyone can read, and the room where members add to it. Consult Your unit, your floor, the hospital across town. Held, on purpose. Deferred past the other four. The reason is worth reading before you ask where it went.

Why rooms are filters, not destinations

Every network that opened rooms to everybody at once shipped the same failure: you arrive, there are four posts, and you never come back. A dead feed on first open is not a slow start — it is a permanent loss.

So Status Post grows one unit-shift at a time. A room opens for you once enough of your own unit — people who actually work your floor, on shifts that overlap yours — are already here to make it worth opening. Until then you get the toolbox instead of an empty room, and an honest sense of how close your floor is.
