Moonlighting

Your side project gets a storefront.

Need a badge reel for the whole unit? Someone here makes them. Your Etsy shop, your photography, your coaching business, the CE course you wrote at two in the morning — one page, your actual face on it if you want it there — and everyone shopping carries the same badge you do.

The room and the market are different places

Moonlighting is where you talk about the thing you are building. The Market is where the thing itself is listed, with a price on it. Keeping those apart is deliberate: a room that fills with listings stops being a room, and that is the failure every community-plus-commerce product hits.

What selling here will look like

  • Members sell to members. Not to hospitals, not to recruiters, not to vendors buying access to you.
  • Launch take rate: 0%. You brought the buyer. That will not be free forever, and we will say so before it changes.
  • Badges state facts, never endorsements. A seller badge says how someone was verified. An "Insurance on file" badge says a current certificate is on file. Neither means Status Post checked the work.
  • Selling is a public act, and not a pseudonymous one. A listing is readable by anyone with no account, and it carries your page and your seller badge. That is what makes a marketplace work, and it is worth knowing before you list.

Listing something never requires you to claim a story. The seller path stands on your verification badge alone, so nothing you wrote in a pseudonymous room has to be attached to your name in order to sell — and the two stay as separate as they were before.

Most members will never list anything

In every peer marketplace this size, one to three percent of members ever sell. The page has to be worth having for the ninety-seven percent who do not — so nothing here is gated behind becoming a seller.

The Market opens in Phase 2. Clock In and you'll hear about it before it does.
